Gujarat police traced in Delhi the prime accused in the alleged gang rape of a 24-year-old girl, who later committed suicide, sources said on Sunday.

"Sajal Jain who was absconding after the incident was traced and found at a hospital in Delhi. The team from Gujarat police has not yet arrested him and are waiting to know his health status from doctors before making a move", Additional Commissioner of Police Keshav Kumar said.

The incident had taken place on the New Year eve night at a hotel in Ahmedabad.

Police teams had left for Delhi two days ago after pressure mounted on them following the suicide of the alleged rape victim and a suicide note that said her four rapists including her lover, Jain should be held responsible for her death.

Three city-based youths, who are distant relatives of Jain are already in police custody and officials had sent teams to arrest Jain and a co-accused from Ajmer.
