Denue cases in Gurgaon rose to 415 with 16 more people testing positive for the vector-borne disease on Friday, the district health department said.

The health department has registered only one death as opposed to the private hospitals that have put the dengue death count at five.

The vector-borne disease is still on the rise despite atmospheric temperatures dipping. "Although temperatures have reduced, the air is still humid, which allows mosquitoes to breed. As soon as temperatures reduce, they will go into hibernation. Now it is only the infected adults that are biting," said Dr Mahinder Gupta, deputy civil surgeon. The department has put the malaria count at 628 and swine flu at five.
