The Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) on Thursday sealed four petrol pumps in Gurgaon due to non-payment of rent as per the land lease agreement.
But Sudha Yadav, former BJP MP and widow of Kargil war hero SS Yadav, who owns one of the sealed vends in Sector 12-A, termed the move “politically motivated”.
“My petrol pump is not a defaulter. We have been paying rent as per the condition of the land lease with the Huda. But we fail to understand why Huda officials targeted our petrol pump and why not the actual defaulter petrol pump located at Sukhrali, close to Iffco Chowk,” Yadav said.
She said that she had a detailed discussion with the HPCL officials and they are preparing for a legal move.
According to Huda officials, Yadav’s petrol pump which belongs to Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), owes Rs 1 crore.
HPCL officials also termed the sealing completely biased.
“We met Huda administrator Praveen Kumar two days ago. We requested for re-calculation of dues as we have no idea how Huda calculated the amount of Rs 1 crore. But before all this, Huda estate office sealed our pump at 5 am without giving us time for a hearing,” said Dinesh Dagar, the sales manager, HPCL.
“We will go to court if Huda does not give us time for a personal hearing and calculation of the outstanding dues,” he added.
Other three petrol pumps sealed at Sector 9-A, Sector 18 and Sector 37-2 belong to the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOC). Together the four pumps owe nearly Rs 7 crore to Huda, which had given them time till March 31 to deposit the money.
On April 4, the estate officer (EO-1) Huda, Narender Singh Yadav, ordered sealing of these petrol pumps.
He said the petrol pump operators have failed to adhere to Huda’s notice and repeated reminders to pay the dues. The HPCL’s petrol pump at Sector 18 awes the highest amount up to Rs 2.45 core. The owner of Sector 9-A pet rol pump has to pay Rs 1.13 crore, while the fuel station at Sector 37-2 owes Rs 2.35 crore.
