A total of 2,105 lawyers cast their vote to elect the top-office bearers of DBA.

Kashyap Sharma was declared the vice-president, while Paramvir Kataria was elected secretary and Dinesh Gupta the joint secretary.

There were a total of 14 candidates in the fray for the four top posts but for the third year in a row, there were no women contestants.

Polling was carried out under electronic surveillance and three CCTV cameras were specially installed in the court complex to ensure fair elections.

The election began at 8am and concluded around 4.30pm, followed by rounds of re-counting. The bar association has a membership of 2,685 advocates, including 300 women, against the total 3,650 practicing lawyers.

Of the total number of registered bar members in the Gurgaon district court, only about 10% are women. In last year’s elections, merely 5-6% women lawyers had voted.
