Over 30,000 people visited the two-day annual flower show at Leisure Valley Park in Sector 29 on Saturday.
Area MLA Rao Dharampal and Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) administrator Praveen Kumar inaugurated the flower show where a cultural function was also put up by children.
According to a Huda official, more than 150 varieties of flowers are on display with over 100 participants from across the state.
Pleasant weather on Saturday drew residents from their homes in hordes and heavy footfall is expected on Sunday as well.
A six-judge panel of retired and working senior officials of the horticulture departments of CPWD, DDA and Huda distributed the awards to winners.
“The Huda Challenge Cup in the individual category won by city resident Dr Ranjan Aggarwal and in the industry category, Kunskapsskolan School at DLF-1 picked up the award. Madhu Malik, also from Gurgaon, won the prize for the best terrace garden,” said a senior Huda official, adding that there were as many as seven categories of awards.
Several events by professional artistes are lined up for Sunday, the last day of the show.
“Huda has been organising the flower show since 1990 and the number of participants has increased every year,” added an official.
“We have various categories such as cut flowers, potted flowers, gardening, terrace garden, hanging garden among others,” he added.
