“This is the second time that I am going to participate in this event. In 2011, I had won a silver medal at Herbert Hoover Disc Golf Course and Split Rock Golf Course in New York between August 26 and September 5. I would compete from August 5 to 7 this year,” said Singh.

The officer is participating in the event at his own expense. “I have to bear all the expenses -- from travelling to staying there and the entry fees to the event. Also I have to pay nearly $700 more as I would be practising twice at the three courses that I would be playing at and all the sessions are paid. But I am following my passion, my heart,” he said.

“The love for the game keeps me going on. Earlier, I used to play squash, but now I am completely devoted to golf,” the officer said.

“Last time I was vacationing in New York and had entered the tournament just for fun. As I won, I took it seriously and this time I am all prepared,” he reminisced with elation.

Singh has also won the overall golf championship at the 16th All India Police Golf 3-day Tournament held at DLF Golf Course in Gurgaon on October 10-12 last year. “I usually practise at the DLF golf course. My job has never affected my game,” said Singh.
