If the cellular tower in your area has been a nuisance, there is bad news for you. Despite protests by residents, the Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) has decided to allow such towers in residential areas if operators pay a regularization fee for authorisation.
Cellular firms
have also been directed to obtain a no objection certificate from the defense department, civil aviation and Doordarshan.
In the fresh guidelines, HUDA has advised mobile tower companies to mandatorily seek structural certificates from prestigious institutions such as IIT Delhi, Roorkee, Punjab Engineering College and Kurushetra University.
Such towers operate in large number from residential areas and sectors.
Since 2008, the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) had been overseeing the functioning of cellular towers. The Huda has stepped in for the time to issue fresh guidelines.
"I am not happy with the fresh guidelines. It favours mobile tower companies as seeking the requisite certificates would hardly be a problem for them," said Raja Ram, a resident of Sector 15.
