A 30-year-old Dalit widow was allegedly gang-raped by four persons at Udyog Vihar on Tuesday night.

The incident took place when the victim was on her way to offer prayers at a temple along with her brother and a colleague. All the four accused were arrested on Wednesday morning, the police said.

The accused were identified as Vivek Singh (19), Harjeet Valmiki (19), Maha Singh Yadav (19), resident of Dundahera village, and Sahvan Ali (19), hailing from Haridwar (Uttarakhand).

Police officials said the victim, hailing from Auraiya in Uttar Pradesh, had shifted to Gurgaon in 2008 following her husband's death. She had been living with her brother in a rented accommodation in Dundahera village and was working as a sweeper in a factory from the last four years. After finishing work on Tuesday, the victim along with her brother and a colleague went to offer prayers at a nearby temple around 7.30pm.

When the trio was on their way, the four accused allegedly passed derogatory remarks. This resulted in a verbal altercation and soon turned into a fight.

The accused allegedly assaulted the duo and took the victim to a nearby isolated spot and violated her. The victim's brother immediately informed the police control room.

DCP (West) Surinder Pal said, "Upon receiving the information, my team swung into action and conducted raids. We arrested one of the accused identified by the victim's brother. His arrest led us to the other three accused."

Meanwhile, the medical examination of the victim has confirmed rape.
