'Drug addict' stabs two men to death

A 21-year-old man was arrested after he stabbed two men, in their twenties, to death and seriously injured another on Tuesday night on the Old Railway Road area.


The accused was produced before a local court which sent him to two-day police custody.

The accused stabbed the victims after a drunken brawl turned violent at a road side eatery, the police said. The deceased are yet to be identified. 

Rajesh Duggal, DCP (Crime), said, "We have interrogated the accused and would recover the weapon used for the crime soon. 

A third victim, who was injured in the incident, has fled the spot. The motive behind the killings is yet not confirmed but the deceased were not known to the accused."

The police have initiated a probe into the incident. The investigators have approached the authorities of the ICICI Bank to provide CCTV footage, as the incident took place in front its ATM booth near Samrat Bakery. 

The accused, Deepak Kumar, a resident of Jacobpura, is a drug addict. The police are yet to recover the weapon used for the crime. According to the police, soon after receiving a call at 11pm, a police team reached the spot.

One of the victims was found near the ATM booth while the other from a distance.

Although the police rushed them to the Civil Hospital, doctors declared them brought dead.

According to an eyewitness, a group of men attacked the victims following the quarrel at the eatery.
