The newly-appointed commissioner visited areas facing major civic hurdles including the Old and New Railway Road, Dundahera, Sirhol and Sadar and directed the sanitation authorities to ensure that all measures needed to improve the sanitation of the city are taken judiciously without any delay.

“I have seen the deplorable situation of sanitation and a lot of work needs to be done on the front. The sanitation issues cannot continue this way in the city and there needs to be a crackdown. I held a meeting with the sanitation department officials in this regard. Various sanitary measures right from door-to-door garbage collection to management of waste thrown in open spaces need to be taken seriously,” said the commissioner.

The commissioner has asked the sanitation department to expedite the process of calling for tenders relating to development work on a high-priority basis to ensure that the sanitation measures are not delayed in any manner.
