The city police are in the process of bringing back two Georgia nationals from Mangalore after they were booked in a November 2012 carjacking case. After their arrest in March, the Mangalore police recovered a Tata Manza belonging to a businessman in Gurgaon.

“The duo stole the vehicle from Gurgaon and then went to Mangalore. They changed the number plate of the car. In Mangalore also, the accused were involved in a theft case in a jewellery shop. They were caught through CCTVs in the store,” said JCP Maheshwar Dayal.

Dayal added that the Gurgaon police were making efforts to bring the accused back for a trial. “We have submitted the requisite documents to the local court. The Mangalore police have demanded a counter-signature for the warrant from a local court. They will be brought back when the Manglore police sanction the request,” said Dayal.
