Residents to help Uttarakhand flood victims

Residents of the city have come forward to help the victims of the Uttarakhand calamity. The resident welfare association of Sushant Lok 2 and 3 on Sunday decided to send food and clothes to the flood-hit state.

“Thousands of pilgrims are still stranded in Uttarakhand. We have decided to collect provisions to be sent to affected areas,” said RWA president Joginder Singh.

Members of the RWA have decided to collect packaged edible items. “We are collecting food items such as biscuits, rice, pulses, flour, sugar and salt as the victims are in dire need of food. We are also collecting clothes to keep the people warm there at high altitudes,” said Singh.

The RWA will form several teams for door-to-door collection of these articles. Besides, it has started sending text messages to the residents and has begun calling them too.

RWA members have appealed to the residents of Gurgaon to come forward in large numbers to donate for the cause. Interested people can contact Joginder Singh at 9811107248.

Meanwhile, Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Sunday offered to adopt and rebuild as many villages in Uttarakhand as chief minister Vijay Bahuguna would want, besides offering generous help and assistance of every kind to flood-ravaged areas of the state.

Hooda said disaster centres had been set up by the Haryana government for providing information, help and relief material to the stranded people in Dehradun, Haridwar and Rishikesh.

FIR against Unitech’s top officials for ‘cheating’ buyers

An FIR was registered against nine officials of realty major Unitech Realty Pvt Ltd, including its directors Ramesh Chandra, Sanjay Chandra and Ajay Chandra, on Thursday evening for allegedly cheating investors. A Gurgaon court had passed an ex- parte order to this effect.
