Several rounds of negotiation after a dispute over wage hike at Hero MotoCorp's Gurgaon plant has failed to yield any results. The discussions have been held in the presence of senior labour department officials. According to sources, the wage settlement of 1,200 workers at the plant has been pending since August 2012 over demands of a close to three-fold hike.

While the automobile giant is offering a hike of Rs. 6,500 a month, similar to a settlement at the manufacturer's Dharuhera plant, workers are demanding what their counterparts at Honda and Maruti get.

"Workers at Honda have got a salary hike of Rs. 14,700 per month. Maruti has given a substantial hike as well," said Bhim Rao, general secretary of the Hero MotoCorp workers union.

"We have already stopped taking tea from the plant canteen and are wearing black badges on our arm as a mark of protest," Rao added.

A Hero MotoCorp spokesperson, however, denied any tension or deadlock over the issue in an email response.
