Wanted criminals nabbed after encounter

The city police on Saturday nabbed two persons charged with assault and theft after exchange of fire during a brief chase on near Manesar on NH-8. While one of the accused was injured in the firing and rushed to a private hospital, the other was arrested by the police. The police also seized a pistol and four live cartridges.

The duo, Bhudev alias Bhawar and Sanju, were at an roadside eatery near Manesar when one of them fired in air on being told that food was not available. After getting a call about the firing, a police team from the Bilaspur police station rushed to the spot but the accused tried to escape.

The men were nabbed after a chase and exchange of fire.

During an interrogation, police said, it was found that one of the accused was also involved in an attempt to murder case in May 2012 for assaulting a newspaper distributor in Wazirabad.
