Four persons were killed when a wall at a stone-crushing unit in Pali collapsed on Monday.

The incident occurred around 4.30pm when the labourers were working at the site. Five labourers were buried under the debris of the wall when it collapsed.

Policemen from the nearby Pali post and Sector 55 police station reached the unit and pulled out those trapped with the help of other labourers. They were taken to a local hospital where four of them were proclaimed dead on arrival.

The police are yet to register an FIR in the case and are waiting for the statement of the injured.

"Once we record statements of the injured and the witnesses, a case under relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code will be registered," Sector 55 station house officer Devinder Singh said, adding, "We are yet to learn who was running this unit."

The police said the post-mortem of the dead will be done once all of them were identified. Two of the dead have been identified as Durgawati Devi, of Ballia in Uttar Pradesh, and Kamlawati Devi, of Patel Nagar, Faridabad.

"This is the first such incident in this crushing zone," Dharamvir Bhadana, the president of the Pali Crusher Zone, said.

"The wall that collapsed was about 25ft long, 15ft high and one and half inch wide," he added.
