The Punjab and Haryana High Court has stayed the Haryana Urban Development Authority’s move to make parking lots at two Sector 29 sites — Bikanerwala and Pind Baluchi — free.
Huda had taken this decision in December 2011. It had planned an elaborate beautification initiative for the
Sector 29 market. This order is likely to upset the Huda’s plan.
The parking sites were allotted to a private agency, Development Services, on contract basis. The agency had not renewed the contract after December.
The court has fixed April 2 as the next day of hearing. “We will try our best to convince the court that the land belongs to the Huda and no private agency can use it for personal benefit,” said the administrator.
The administrator is learnt to have asked estate officer Narinder Singh Yadav to prepare a response note before the date of hearing.
