Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, along with nearly one lakh supporters, launched a sanitation drive in the city on Saturday. Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) administrator Parveen Kumar was also part of the cleanliness drive.

The Dera Sacha Sauda chief
inaugurated the campaign at 8:30 am from MDI chowk by sweeping roads. His supporters followed suit.

Huda has taken over the campaign, which is likely to continue for the next 2-3 months. For this, it has arranged a fleet of garbage collection machines and trucks.

Sanitation work will also be carried out on MG Road, DLF City, South City, Golf Course, besides other areas of Old Gurgaon. The volunteers said they had vowed to change the face of the Millennium City. As part of the drive, Gurgaon has been divided into four zones and further divided into 280 sectors.

“Earthmover machines, trucks and dumpers have been assigned for the cleaning work. Nine new vehicles have been bought to dispose of the garbage,” said Huda administrator Praveen Kumar.

Kumar said he had arranged for one lakh surgical gloves for the volunteers, besides 5,000 sheets to collect garbage.

Earlier, the supporters successfully completed similar cleaning drives in Bikaner in four hours, Jaipur seven  hours and Delhi in two days.
