The Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) has procured eight vehicles to facilitate garbage collection from houses and ensure proper disposal at the Bandhwari Solid Waste Management Plant on Faridabad Road. The vehicles will first be put into service in Sectors 14 and 22. Special
dustbins and carry bags will also be provided to shopkeepers in various Huda sectors. This was disclosed by Huda administrator Praveen Kumar at a press conference in Gurgaon on Wednesday.

The department had also displayed the special vehicles at the Huda Gymkhana Club.

Kumar said the Haryana government had approved a novel scheme for recycling and treating grey water (waste water from baths, sinks, washing machines and other kitchen appliances) for the first time in the state for Gurgaon.

The scheme would cost R498 crore which also includes upgrading water supply, sewage system, irrigation and recycling grey water.

The recycled water can be used for works other than drinking like watering plants and washing vehicles etc.

Kumar said another water conservation scheme worth R260 crore has also been approved which would be useful in recharging groundwater and raising the water table in Gurgaon which is depleting at a fast pace.
