A man murdered a Class 8 student before committing suicide in Faridabad on Sunday. The reason behind the gruesome murder of the girl is still shrouded in mystery.
Government Railway Police officers had found the body of the 35-year-old man on railway tracks who came under a speeding train. He had written his residential address on his hand.
When the police went to the house at Parvartiya colony under Saran police station, they found it locked.
At the instance of police, the neighbours called house owner Arjun, who works with a private firm. Arjun identified the deceased as Jitendra and told the police that he was a close relative and they used to live together. Arjun could not find the keys to the house and the police had to break the lock.
When they went inside, they found the body of Arjun's daughter Soni, 14, lying in a pool of blood in the room.
The killer had silt the throat of the girl and hit her head with some sharp-edged weapon. The police were called and the body was sent for post-mortem.
During investigation, the police found that Soni and Jitendra were alone in the house before Arjun left for office around 6 am. They had tea around 5.30 am before Arjun left for work at a factory in Faridabad.
The police have registered case of murder against Jitendra. Both Jitendra and Arjun's family hail from Malliveena village of Pauri-Garwal district in Uttarakhand. Arjun was living in Parvartiya colony in Faridabad for the past 10 years. The accused Jitendra, a close relative of the family, had come to live with them three months ago.
Jitendra, the police said, was married and father of a daughter. Arjun's wife and two other daughters were away at their ancestral house in Uttarakhand.
Police said the family took the two dead bodies to Uttarakhand for funeral. "We are investigating the matter," said Raj Kumar Vaishisht, DCP NIT.
