It seems motorists in the city are not taking safety precautions while driving.

Though several drives have been conducted by the traffic police to check the offenders, it has failed to check them.

From January to March, the traffic police issued nearly 13,190 challans to motorists for not wearing seatbelts this year.
Besides, 11,817 drivers were fined for driving without helmets.

The Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway, Pink City Expressway, Faridabad Expressway and MG Road daily receive a high volume of traffic.

The police said school children drove around city roads without wearing safety gear such as helmets, besides triple riding.

They also said parents did not check their children from violating traffic safety measures.

Joint commissioner of police Maheshwar Dayal said, “We have been conducting regular drives and our teams have been deployed on vulnerable spots to challan the offenders. However, this has failed to stop people from violating norms. The aim is to bring down the increasing number of accidents. People need to know the importance of following safety measures.”
