A 20-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide after she was raped by three men who forced their way into her house in Palwal, 45 kms from Faridabad, on Wednesday morning.
The incident comes just days after a Delhi girl on a visit to a friend in Faridabad was raped by five men. Two of the men were arrested in that case.
On Wednesday, the woman, an arts graduate, was alone at her home in Yadavpur when three of her neighbours barged into her house and raped her, police sources said.
She later hanged herself, her family members said.
The police were informed of her death by her brother early on Thursday. Her body was taken to a government hospital for post-mortem.
The accused, Rupa, Kanwar and Harbir have been accused of gang rape and abetment to suicide and are on the run.
The woman's father had been a fugitive for a year after being accused of involvement in a clash between two groups in July 2011. He had avoided visiting his house ever since.
Sources said the three men were aware of his absence. The police said the woman's father was arrested a week ago. He is currently in police remand.
He was taken to hospital to see his daughter's body. "Three teams have been formed to track down the accused. We hope to arrest all the three men at the earliest," a police officer.
