The busy national highway number 2 was blocked and the traffic affected for over an hour on Sunday after some villagers staged an angry  demonstration. The villagers were protesting the daylight murders of two men in a village in Faridabad district today morning. The
incident occurred when one Rajendra, son of a village head, was distributing sweetened water from a stall set up on the occasion of 'Nirjala Ekadashi' near Panhera Kala village around 10am.

Suddenly, eyewitnesses said, four armed men on two motorcycles appeared on the scene and started firing at Rajendra.

Immediately, another villager named Kapil tried to help and catch one of the assailants but the armed men shot at him also, pumping into him multiple bullets.

Both the victims were rushed to a private hospital nearby where they were declared brought dead. The bodies were then shifted to BK Hospital where a post-mortem examination was conducted.

The relatives of the victims and other villagers then took the bodies and sat on the national highway in protest.

They demanded immediate arrest of the accused men. Senior police officers had to rush to the spot to placate the family members and the villagers.

The police suspect political rivalry within two groups from the village could be the reason behind the attack.

"We have registered a murder case against six men, four known and two unknown," said Raj Kumar Vaishsisht, DCP Ballabgarh.

"We have rounded up two suspects in this connection," Vaishisht added.
