The BJP on Friday claimed that it would sweep the Lok Sabha elections by winning all four Lok Sabha seats in the state in the coming elections slated to be held in 2014.
“The party is ready for the Mandi Lok Sabha bypoll too,” said Prem Kumar Dhumal, former chief minister and a senior BJP leader.
He said the name of the party candidate from the Mandi seat would be announced soon as there were reports that the election commission would announce the election dates soon.
Talking to mediapersons here, he said people of the state were disillusioned with the performance of the Congress-led government in the state and were repenting upon their decision to vote for the Congress in majority segments of state.
“People had not seen such a government whose graph had gone down within four-and-a-half months of its rule. In fact, the government is not working. Either it is rushing to New Delhi or sleeping”, he added.
Dhumal said the PDS system had totally collapsed and poor and middle-class people were forced to purchase food items from open markets by paying exorbitant rates. The government had failed to procure items from sources.
He was pained to say medical services had collapsed in various parts of the state due to mass transfer of medicos from Hamirpur on various political considerations.
Worst affected were the poor as they had to rush to private hospitals to get treatment. He demanded immediate posting of senior medicos in all hospitals, including the zonal hospital of Hamirpur, failing which the BJP would be forced to launch a stir against the state government.
Replying to a question, he said people were against corruption and that led to ouster of the BJP government from power in Karnataka.
They not only rejected the BJP but also others who were facing corruption charges. He said the Congress was bound to face the same thing in the Lok Sabha elections as it was facing massive corruption charges.
