State BJP chief Satpal Satti has said chief minister Virbhadra Singh has represented Mandi constituency four times and remained union minster along with being the chief minister of the state five times in the past, but he has nothing to claim on the development issues in Mandi.
“Instead of being thankful to Mandi residents, Virbhadra's attention and sincerity always remained with upper Shimla and Rampur area and that is why he cannot count a single extraordinary achievement in the Mandi central zone,” he said.
He claimed that Pratibha Singh failed to utilise Rs 2 crore MPLAD funds when she represented the Mandi parliamentary constituency from 2004 to 2009.
“It is not her fault basically. Actually, she is not a politician or social activist who could think of betterment of common people. She is just enjoying the status of being chief minister's wife and that is all,” he added.
He said Virbhadra Singh should speak on his and his party's achievements while canvassing for his wife instead of blaming the BJP to divert people's attention from real and burning issues.
“Not only Virbhadra Singh, but all other party leaders are using the same technique to divert people's attention whereas the Congress has ruled the state more than four decades, but they have nothing to tell the people about their developmental achievements,” he said.
He said the BJP had nothing to do with the infamous CD issue of Virbhadra Singh and his wife Pratibha Singh.
He also challenged Virbhadra Singh over telephone tapping scam and said that if he was really sure about the truth then why Virbhadra Singh was avoiding fast-track inquiry into the matter and using the same to misguide people.
He said the Congress has stopped the construction work on a number of bus stands which was initiated by the BJP and de-notified opening of colleges.
