A special court in Dharamsala on Thursday dismissed the anticipatory bail of three Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) officials in a case of cheating registered against the cricket body as premature.

The officials, who joined the investigation include, HPCA senior vice-president RS Kapoor, honorary secretary Vishal Marwah and executive member RP Singh.

The state vigilance and anti-corruption counsel maintained in court that as no evidence was found against the three officials, hence their bail plea would be dismissed as premature.

The defence counsel contended that his clients should be given 24 hours prior to their arrest if any evidence was found against them in the later stage of investigation.

However, special judge RK Sharma rejected the argument of the defence counsel.
The trio had moved court for anticipatory bail after a case of cheating was registered against HPCA on August 1, 2013.

The court during the hearing on August 7 had directed them to join the investigation. The vigilance had recorded statements of the three officials after court's direction.
