The Himachal Pradesh government on Friday shifted Nalagarh deputy superintendent of police Shushil Kumar to the Bhakra Beas Management Board, Talwara.

The government action apparently came following a news report - “Complaints of IAS officer fall on deaf ears” - that was carried in the Hindustan Times on Friday.

The report highlighted how the government had dithered to take action in spite of repeated complaints of lack of support from the police in checking illegal mining in the area.

Sub-divisional magistrate Yunus, who has been spearheading a campaign against illegal mining in the area, had alleged lack of support from the police.
