On the instructions of governor NN Vohra, who is also chairman of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, all intending pilgrims possessing valid registration will be provided an insurance cover of Rs. 1 lakh against accidental death within the state during the period of the yatra.

Chief executive officer Navin K Choudhary informed that the insurance cover would be available to all registered yatris for the period commencing one week ahead of the commencement of the pilgrimage and ending one week after the conclusion of the yatra.

He further clarified that the insurance would cover any accidental death which takes place anywhere in the state while travelling onward to the yatra base camps as well as while moving on the yatra tracks.

The CEO has again requested all pilgrims not to embark on the yatra without obtaining valid registration after securing a compulsory health certificate, which will also make them eligible for accident insurance coverage.
