A newborn girl was found abandoned on the railway tracks in Jagatpura area of Jaipur on Friday morning.
The infant was rushed to a hospital, but it died soon after.
According to police, the baby seems to have been delivered in a running train and dropped on the tracks through the toilet hole. Eyewitnesses told police that the baby was found on the tracks after the Jaipur-Agra intercity train passed from the station.
The railway authorities informed officials at nearby stations but it could not be confirmed whether the baby had been delivered on the train.
The people waiting for a train saw the baby on the tracks and informed the railway police officials, who rushed the baby to the hospital.
Superintendent of JK Lon hospital Dr SD Sharma said the baby, born premature weighed just 800 gm. Brought in a critical condition, the baby had trouble breathing and had an erratic heartbeat, while her body had turned blue.
In another incident, a baby girl was found in the bushes behind Manthan Cinema in Pali.
The baby, wrapped in a polythene bag, had been thrown in the bushes.
People found her when they heard her crying and admitted the baby to Bangar Hospital. The doctors said that the baby was born approximately 12 hours before it was found and weighed a healthy 2.5 kg.
Recently, a couple had abandoned a baby girl outside the Zenana Hospital in Jaipur. The hospital authorities found her and admitted to the JK Lone Hospital, where she is undergoing treatment for blood infection.
