A 45-year-old Sikh woman was allegedly beaten up and then her head was shaved off by her relatives over a property dispute in Shahsan village of Bharatpur district.

Meeto Bai, a widow, was allegedly locked inside her house on Thursday by her brother-in-law and his wife, who assaulted her and then shaved off her head, police said.

After the incident, the woman filed a police complaint following which her brother-in-law, Iqbal and sister-in-law Lajwant Kaur were arrested, Jurhera police station station house officer (SHO) Madan Lal Meena said.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the woman whose husband had died few years ago wanted to sell a piece of land but her relatives, living in the same village, were against it.

Police denied reports that she was stripped and paraded on streets.
