Maoists on Sunday night attacked a police picket in Palamau district, triggering a gun battle during the two-day Bharat bandh, the police said in Medininagar.
The ultras opened fire on Saradih police picket in Nawadih police station, Palamau superintendent of police SK Jha
said.
The ensuing encounter lasted for about 30 minutes before the extremists retreated under heavy retaliation by the security forces, he said and added there was no loss of life on any side in the attack, additional reinforcements were rushed to the spot.
