“Six students were riding on two motorcycles and were involved in a head-on collision. While three died on the spot, the other three were seriously injured,” said an officer of the Daspur police station, which presides over the location of the accident spot.

The deceased have been identified as Arnab Kar, Abhishek Roy and Souvik Dey and the injured are Souvik Pain, Jitdas Thakur and Sukanta Pakhira.

Sources said that while Pain, Arnab and Abhishek were returning to their homes in Rejinagar after playing Holi at Ghatal, the others were travelling from near Daspur to Ghatal to meet up with their friends when the two motorcycles collided, resulting in the tragic deaths.
