Basirhaat police have arrested a wife on Friday for allegedly abducting her husband, who has been missing for past three weeks.

The arrest was made after her mother-in-law Kakoli Biswas lodged an FIR against Basanti Biswas Yadav on Friday afternoon.

Police sources said Biswas Yadav married Birju Yadav 10 years ago and had three children but he died four years ago.

Then she met Biswajit Biswas, a resident of Daspara in Pifa village under Basirhat police station in North 24 parganas district, and got married to him.

However, Biswas’s family never agreed to accept her. Biswajit and Basanti lived in Barabazar area in Kolkata until a month ago, when Biswajit went back to home but his family did not allow her to enter the home.

Biswajit went missing in a few days and has been traceless since then. His mother alleged that Biswas Yadav abducted him and has confined him at some place in New Delhi.
