Despite wielding the sword, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee has not given up her prolific pen.

Her 26th and 27th books will be released on January 24, the inaugural day of the 36th Kolkata Book Fair. So far she has authored 25, including translations.

In a book called Parivartan, she has described her political journey over four decades, from an opposition activist of the Chhatra Parishad, the Congress's students' body in West Bengal, to the seat of power in Writers' Buildings.

It gives accounts of the Left Front regime's last five years, when she participated in the anti-land acquisition movements in Singur and Nandigram.

"These are her latest writings, which she penned in the past couple of months. I received most of the writings in January and some even today (Sunday)," Sudhangshu Sekhar Dey, owner of Dey's Publishing, told HT on Sunday.

This apart, she will release another book called Kobita, a collection of 60-70 poems, which catches her in a melancholic mood as she writes about the illness of her mother, who died in December.
