Amidst continuing violence in Lalgarh, the state police have nabbed a Maoist leader, the first since Maoists launched their movement in Bengal in November 2008. On Sunday night securitymen caught Raju Adak, 30, believed to be behind the Maoist insurgence in Purnapani, a pocket of the
ultras near Lalgarh. According to sources, Adak had led the team that killed two police officers in Sankrail police station in West Midnapore on October 20.

Meanwhile, the Maoist killing spree continues. On Sunday night, a bus conductor, Sanatan Pratihar,  was executed by suspected Maoists at Pingboni, about 180 km from Kolkata. A businessman from Ramgarh is also battling bullet injuries at Midnapore hospital.
