One person was killed when robbers fired at security guards who chased them after they had looted a shopping mall at Kamarhati in North 24-pargans district on Saturday.
Two persons on a motorbike entered Vishal Garments on B T Road around 3 pm posing as customers and demanded money from the cashier at gunpoint.
They stacked Rs. 1.4 lakh in a black bag and were runnig away when the mall's private security guards began chasing them.
Scared, the looters opened fire and a bullet hit Amar Kanti Basu who fell and died instantly, the police said. Additional North 24-Parganas distrcit SP Pravin Kumar Tripathy said the CCTV footage of the shopping mall was being examined to identify the robbers.
