The victim was travelling with her fatherin-law, who is a senior official posted at Dum Dum station.

The officer along with his wife and daughter-in-law boarded the train from Central station.

In the compartment, one of the miscreants Arun Singh pushed the official’s daughter-in-law from the back and she asked him to keep a safe distance. The trouble started after the train reached Dum Dum station.

Singh along with his friend Sujay Roy engaged in bitter exchange of words with the family after molesting the girl inside the train.

A scuffle finally broke out and security personnel of the railway rushed to the spot and took the duo to the office of the station superintendent.

“The two accused have been handed over to the cops of Sinthi Police station,” said Protyush Ghosh, DGM, Metro Railway, Kolkata. Roy is a student of Manindra Chandra College.

After the arrest, a certain Soma Saha, who claimed to be a Trinamool Congress leader, went to the Dum Dum station to seek release of one of the accused, whom she said was her brother.

Apart from Saha, another Trinamool leader of the Dum Dum area is believed to have called up to an official of the Metro Railway to seek release of the accused.
