US Ambassador to India, Nancy Powell, called on West Bengal Chief Minster Mamata Banerjee at Writers' Buildings, Kolkata, on Monday.
Powell was with the chief minister for about 40 minutes.
Neither the US envoy nor the chief minster briefed reporters about the meeting.
