A woman accused the staff members of exchanging her newborn boy with a baby girl even as the staff pleaded innocence.

The high-drama came to an end when the woman finally changed her statement and accepted that she was the mother of the girl child.

Kusum Chaurasia, 22, was admitted to the hospital on Saturday afternoon and delivered here child around midnight.

However, as she came out of the operation theatre in the morning to meet her husband and in-laws, she told them she gave birth to a baby boy.

“Around 6.30am, Kusum was handed over the girl. As soon as she saw her, she started crying foul. Her family members made a complaint and informed the local police too,” said Sunil, a relative of Kusum.

For hours, the family members and the hospital staff were engaged in a struggle to emphasise their point.

While the family alleged child swapping, hospital authorities tried to convince them that Kusum might be confused about the child.

When the cops reached the spot, it was decided that a case may formally be registered and DNA test be recommended for the mother and the child.

Kusum was told if her statement turned out to be false, she might face punishment.

At this, Kusum went back on her words and accepted the female child was born to her.

Kusum along with her husband SS Chaurasia, a vendor in Daliganj area, took back the complaint.
