After BSP chief Mayawati, it was the turn of Congress union minister Beni Prasad Verma to trash BJP’s Narendra Modi.
Modi, Verma said, would not be able to do anything in UP. “He would go back after drinking Gangajal (Ganga water),” Verma said at the sidelines of a function in Gonda.
Modi’s aide and the party’s UP in-charge Amit Shah, too, came in for sharp criticism for raking up the temple issue. The “murder accused in Gujarat has come to mislead the people in UP,” Verma said. “The people of the state were vigilant and would not allow anybody to vitiate the communal harmony.”
As for Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav — whom he had repeatedly taken on earlier — Verma said he was an “old friend” whom he would “garland” if he became the prime minister in 2014.
