Honour killing: Lover murdered by girl’s kin in Sultanpur

In another alleged case of honour killing, the family members of a girl killed her lover in Gaura Parani village in Sultanpur district on Saturday night. Both the girl and her lover belonged to the dalit community.

Acting on the complaint of the brother of the deceased, the police have lodged case against four persons, out of which three persons, including a youth and two girls have been taken into custody. A team of forensic experts inspected the spot on Sunday.

A police officer said Ramu and Rinku, both native of Gaura Parani village, worked at a brick kiln in nearby Haliyapur village. Both used to visit each others house. Meanwhile, Rinku fell in love with Ramu’s sister. Ramu and his family members objected to the relationship and warned Rinku with dire consequences. Still Rinku continued to meet Ramu’s sister. On Saturday night, he was caught red handed by the family members of Ramu. They beat Rinku mercilessly. He later he succumbed to injuries on way to hospital.

SHO, Madhupnath Mishra said a case of murder has been registered. Ramu his sisters Shyamlali and Poonam have been taken into custody while brother Shobhe is absconding.
