Police arrested the son of an Additional District Judge (ADJ) along with another person for assaulting and raping a 39-year-old beautician in a moving Opel Astra car in Ghazipur area of Lucknow on Sunday night.

Police arrested the accused and his associate in the wee hours of Tuesday after the woman lodged an FIR on Monday evening. The ADJ's son Amit Bhadauria is himself a lawyer and practices in the High Court in Lucknow while the co-accused Akhilesh Bhadauria is an employee at the High Court, Lucknow bench.

The ADJ is posted in Barabanki.

The incident came to light after the victim, a resident of Jankipuram Colony, contacted station officer of Madiaon police station at around 12.30 pm on Monday. The woman, who is a widow, narrated the horrible experience she went through the previous night.

She said she worked as a beautician and visited clients at home to give her services. She was returning home after visiting a client when a car screeched to a halt beside her at around 8 pm near Khurram Nagar crossing (in Ghazipur area). Before she could sense anything wrong, a man pulled her into the car. The man hit her on the face and gagged her to stop her from screaming.

The car moved ahead and the man on the rear seat assaulted her. When she objected, the driver stopped the car in a deserted place and then both men assaulted her with a stick.

The victim alleged that as she fell semi-unconscious, one of the men raped her while the other one kept driving the car. Later, he too raped her. Both took turns on her till 11 pm in the moving car.

Later, the woman said, the men dumped her on the road near Engineering College at around 11.15 pm and sped away. Her slippers and chain were left in the car.

The woman somehow reached home where her daughter and son provided her medical aid. The victim later informed her sisters and other relatives in the city.

The victim provided the cell phone number of the main accused also. She said she was receiving calls from one Amit Bhadauria since June 2. Amit offered to open a beauty parlour at his place if she worked for him. She reportedly had declined the offer.

The woman said she had received a phone call on her mobile phone from the same number after the incident on Monday morning. The caller laughed at her and claimed that no police action could be initiated against him as he belonged to an influential family.

The police retrieved the phone details and raided Amit's house in Indira Nagar Colony in Ghazipur area. Amit (29) identified himself as son of ADJ Barabanki. When interrogated, he revealed that he and his associate Akhilesh of Madiaon locality had criminally assaulted the woman.

Amit reportedly was caught in a case of assault and eve-teasing a few years back too but was released.

The police arrested Akhilesh in the morning later and recovered the woman's slippers from the car.
