The forthcoming Lucknow University convocation will be marked for its meticulous scheduling-a practice followed by best campuses across the country. The Wednesday programme will have well-demarcated time slots for photo shoot with governor BL Joshi and a seat for all the eight deans and executive council members on the dais. The detailed scheduling has been introduced at the behest of vice-chancellor G Pattanaik.

“The V-C is keen to implement these elements, which are a part of the itinerary of other top universities to give the convocation a new touch. Now members of academic procession and medal recipients will be allotted exclusive time to pose with the chancellor and governor during the programme,” registrar JB Singh said.

The university is also making special arrangements for chancellor’s gold medal winner Sonal Agarwal, who suffers from low vision, so that she can walk up to the stage and collect the coveted medal from the special guests. “We are considering this point and are trying to do something so that Sonal can proudly walk up to the stage,” an official told HT.

Following the convocation programme, a special lecture session has been organised with deputy chairman of Planning Commission of India Montek Singh Ahluwalia. The varsity feels that the unique opportunity would help youngsters to interact with the economist and civil servant, which would help develop their worldview.
