The National Commission for Women has taken cognizance of the complaint made by Lucknow based social activist Dr Nutan Thakur, as regards the improper comments made by Samajwadi Party leader Narendra Bhati against suspended IAS officer Durga Shakti Nagpal.

Mamata Sharma, Chairman of the Women's Commission has sent a letter to Jawed Usmani, chief secretary to the Uttar Pradesh government, asking him to present a detailed report on the matter. The Commission says it will take further action after getting the report.

Dr Thakur is not happy with the enquiry being taken up by the UP government itself, and will ask the Commission to conduct its own enquiry.

Thakur has raised her objection particularly as regards the words “iss --- aurat ne itni behudgi yahaan ki us dande ko chaalees minute nahi jhel paayi” (this ----- woman who commited so much absurdity could not sustain my wrath for 40 minutes) calling it abjectly improper.

She has hence requested Mamata Sharma to take cognizance of this serious issue and to enquire into the matter. She has requested initiation of all legal proceedings as per the enquiry report.
