Polytech students block roads, damage vechicles

A group of senior students of Hewett Polytechnic created a ruckus, blocked road traffic outside campus, damaged vehicles and ransacked shops on Saturday.

They were upset as the juniors had lodged a complaint against them for threatening to rag them during the sports day.

As a preventive step, the polytechnic administration have separated the juniors and seniors for the event.

Cops resorted to lathi charge and arrested two students to control the rowdy group. According to the juniors their seniors had threatened them to rag during the annual sports competition. The juniors informed the management. Sensing that ragging will disturb the sports meet, the polytechnic administration separated the senior and junior groups.

Irate over the action senior students shouted slogans and even hurled stones that caused injuries to juniors. After this it was turn of the vehicles and shops. Cops arrested third year students Ashwini Kumar Singh and Brijesh Kumar.

Polytechnic principal UC Bajpai said that these students would be questioned to know the names of who all were involved in the act. A committee will be formed to decide action there on. Security has been beefed up. The college is mulling over to take action against the guilty students.
