A 38-year-old property dealer, Mohd Nafees, was murdered on Wednesday night when he went to pick up his wife from his in-laws’ house in Mauda village of Kakori. The deceased’s brother lodged an FIR against Nafees’ wife, Shameem and her family members.

Nafees and Shameem had been living in Diguhiya village of Bakshi ka Talab with their three children -- Mumtaz, 19, Shabia, 18, and Meraj, 16.

However, after an estranged relationship with her husband, Shameem had been staying with her parents, two brothers and a sister for the past six months.

The couple had a quarrel over some issue when Nafees went to Kakori to bring his wife back.

He even beater up Shameem, which upset her family members. They, however, rescued Shameem.

In the melee, Nafees was hit by a sharp-edged object that resulted in his death. His body was found in the courtyard of the house.

Nafees’ brother Shafeeq lodged a complaint with the police, after which three of Shameem’s kin were arrested.
