The gruesome details of his murder were revealed after the crime branch team arrested two hired killers on Tuesday. Police said the victim was murdered at the behest of his four partners, who are at large. Monetary dispute was surfacing as the apparent reason for the crime, cops added. Tiwari’s daughter, Sunita Tripathi, who works with a Hindi daily, had lodged the FIR regarding his disappearance with Gomti Nagar police on December 26.

SP, crime branch, Umesh Kumar Singh said the two arrested persons were identified as Shatrughan Godiya and Ram Dheeraj. Tiwari’s two business partners in Mumbai had hired the killers through their two Lucknow aides, Maqsood and Mohd Ashfaq.

The SP said Maqsood and Ashfaq called up the victim and took him to Sultanpur on December 20, assuring him a deal of some second-hand fourwheelers at throwaway prices. He said the duo took him to Musafirkhana, Sultanpur and offered him a lot of alcohol. The two hired killers then bludgeoned him to death and threw the body in the Gomti, he added.
Police have sought remand of the two killers while Mumbai cops have also been approached for the arrest of the other accused in the case, he added.
