The Uttar Pradesh government has asked the Centre to relieve six IAS officers, who are currently on deputation there.

A formal letter in this regard was sent by the state government on Tuesday requesting the centre to relieve six senior IAS officers, including G B Patnaik, Anoop Mishra, JN Chamber and R Ramesh Kumar, official sources in Lucknow said.

Mayawati government has already appointed Atul Gupta and Navneet Sehgal as Industrial Development Commissioner and secretary to the chief minister respectively.

Both the officers have been called back from the Centre though a formal request to repatriate them was sent only on Tuesday, they said.
