A 50-year-old woman died allegedly after an intern gave her a wrong injection at the Malkhan Singh hospital on Sunday.
Family members of the victim created a ruckus but refused to register an FIR against the intern, who managed to flee from the hospital.
In a similar incident on Friday, a four-year-old girl had lost her life after a medical storeowner had given her a wrong injection.
On Sunday, Noorjahan, a resident of Upper Kot, was admitted to the emergency ward of the district hospital after she complained of breathlessness.
Her daughter alleged that an intern came to examine her mother and gave her an injection, soon after which her condition deteriorated.
Later, senior doctor Heera Singh tried to revive her and give her oxygen, but the patient succumbed. Emergency medical officer Dr. Heera Singh said,
“Noor jahan was an asthma patient. The intern had given her Derifyline and Deximithazone injections. We later gave her oxygen and a cardiac message but she could not be revived.”
Family members of the victim demanded action against the intern, who had fled through the back gate of the hospital after witnessing her death.
Additional city magistrate (I) Basant Lal and Bannadevi police arrived at the hospital and urged the family to submit a written complaint.
However, after much discussion, the family members said that they did not want any action and took the body home, said officials.
