A gang of alleged illegal miners forcibly took back a JCB machine from a Railway Protection Force (RPF) team at Banda village under Saray Chhola police station in Morena on Wednesday.

Attempt was allegedly also made to snatch away the service weapon of a RPF official.

The RPF team had seized the machine from near a nearby railway bridge earlier.

Upon a complaint by the RPF, the Saray Chhola police registered a case against eight unidentified men on Thursday under section 398 of IPC (robbery attempt) and sections 11 and 13 of anti-dacoity act, sources said.

According to information available, a three-member RPF team led by sub-inspector Amit Kumar had found a JCB machine working under the Chambal railway bridge, about 25km from Morena district hospital, at the same place where railway cables had been found extensively damaged previous day.

The team seized the JCB and was taking it away when several men in two tractor trollies accosted the team and took the JCB machine forcibly back.

Police said that investigations are on in matter, following which action would be taken.
