Road in Indore to be named after Lata Mangeshkar

The road leading to the birth place of legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar in Indore will be named after her soon. The road at present is famous in the city as Chaat Wali Gali situated between the Gurudwara and the district court premises where large number of kiosks selling mouth-watering
chaat exisit.

The area is also known as Sikh Mohalla and in a house in the area about 80 years back the legendary singer was born.

The house was later converted into a shop and now at that place a garment shop is opened.

Though fans of Mangeshkar were demanding to convert the shop into a memorial, the Indore Mayor Uma Shashi Sharma siad that theoretically it has been decided by the local corporation to name the road leading to that place after Lata Mangeshkar.

Sharma told PTI that possibly it is for the first time that a road in any city is named after the legendary singer and added that soon a proposal in this regard would be tabled in the Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) for its approval.

Lata's father late Dinanath Mangeshkar came to Indore along with his drama troupe to stage shows and on September 28, 1929 and that's how the legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar born in that particular house.
